Cork City Council Annual Report 2021

[Leading Cork to take its place as a World Class City] __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Cycle Right Programme Cork City Council provided “Cycle Right” training to 400 primary school children in 2021. It also supported several ‘cycle buses. The cycle buses, which are parent led, allow children to cycle in a group to school in a fun and safe environment. Be aumont Primary School Children and their parents preparing for the ‘Cycle Bus’ Cork City Walks Cork has a compact city centre which means that it is very easy to get around on foot. Cork is also a city that is full of culture and history. We designed four

interactive walks on the City Council website to encourage people to enjoy more of our city – the Cork Street Art Walk, the Shandon Mile Walk, the South Parish Walk and the City Bridges. This way everyone can learn a little bit about the city as you walk. • The Cork Street Art Walk is designed to highlight some of the fantastic street art that is visible in the city. • The Shandon Mile Walk takes you on a walk around one of the most historic and interesting parts of our city, which is packed with places of interest to enjoy and explore. • The South Parish Walk takes in views of St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, Elizabeth Fort, Nano Nagle’s grave at the South Presentation Convent and the Red Abbey. • The City Bridges Walk , takes you across the thirty-two bridges within the city while giving you facts and figure regarding each bridge.
