[Leading Cork to take its place as a World Class City] __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Casual Trading Summer Special event To support the local economy and re-opening of the City post-Covid, public health restrictions, and in response to significant demand for casual trading licenses in the city, Cork City Council facilitated limited casual trading in specific locations from 7 th June to 26 th September 2021, as a Special Event. Licenses were available for trading at Tramore Valley Park, The Marina, The Glen Park, Harty’s Quay, Shandon Area, Clogheenmilcon Walkway Blarney. The feedback from this interim provision will feed into new Casual Trading Byelaws which are due to be developed in 2022. Derelict Sites In 2021, Cork City Council served notice of its intention to acquire compulsorily the properties at 118 & 119 Barrack Street and 62 – 65 North Main Street, using its powers under the Derelict Sites Act. Following objections, the consent of An Bord Pleanála was subsequently sought. These acquisitions are as a result of the new Direct Sites Policy which was adopted by Cork City Council in 2019 and sets ambitious targets for the acquisition of properties which meet certain criteria.
