CE Management Report September 2021

Heritage Unit

A stone Conservator was appointed to carry out repairs on the Boer Memorial at Connaught Ave and the Echo Boy on St Patrick St. The Echo boy is now completed. The Echo boy statue on St Patrick St celebrates a unique part of Cork City’s local history and is an interesting story for both local and tourist alike. Due to is cultural heritage significance and its prominent location on St Patrick St it is important that this statue is kept in good condition. Therefore, a suitably qualified stone conservator was commissioned to inspect, repair, and clean the statue in September 2021. This work is now completed, and work has begun on the historical Boer War Memorial on Connaught Ave which is due to be completed by the end of October 2021.
