Key objectives of an Irish Language Plan for Cork City The aim of this plan is to support and promote the use of the Irish language across Cork city services and communities. The plan will deliver on this by increasing visibility, fostering opportunities, and developing collaborations with stakeholders relating to the Irish language.

The objectives are:

1. To ensure all sections of Cork City Council are informed about, and compliant with,
their obligations when delivering development plans and strategies
2. To assess the Irish language competence and training needs of all departments and directorates of Cork City Council
3. To establish an interdepartmental network of Irish language representatives within Cork City Council

4. To actively promote the visibility and use of Irish
5. To set and deliver yearly Irish language actions and activities
6. To ensure Elected Members are engaged with the activities of An Grúpa Forbartha through its constituent members and through the Community, Culture and Placemaking Strategic Policy Committee (SPC)
