‘Our Learning Island’ A Shared Island Programme of INLC Learning City Exchanges 2022 - 2024 ‘Our Learning Island’ is an expression of the shared commitment to promoting Lifelong learning across the island of Ireland by all city members and MOU signatories. The proposal on behalf of the Network was developed by Cork with the support of all INCL members and with match funding provided by Derry-Strabane. Following a Launch Event in Cork in 2022, Learning City delegations from Derry-Strabane, Belfast, Cork, Limerick, Dublin and also Waterford have travelled to exchange models of good practice in Lifelong Learning and Inclusion during Seminars and Site Visits hosted by Belfast, Limerick, Derry-Strabane and Cork in 2023-24. Each three day programme organised by host cities involved delegates drawn from a range of lifelong learning sectors across each participating city in a series of sessions to make contacts and develop links with peers who have an interest in future projects on a shared island basis. Principles and Guidelines for the exchanges that were agreed with all members included: • Exchanges will focus on well established groups with strong leadership • Venues and Programmes will be selected by host cities, building in 2 overnights to allow time to develop sustainable relationships • Respect will be ensured for different traditions on all our communications • Our Programme will focus on Social Inclusion – seeking to work across all communities • The opportunity to develop policy and advocacy strategies for the INLC • To connect the Learning Island programme with Strategic Leaders across the cities An evaluation of the Learning Island Exchanges will be hosted by Cork during the Festival ahead of the conclusion of the current Programme in June 2024.

To further strengthen the visibility of the UNESCO Global Netw recognition of individual members, the UNESCO Institute for L members to use the revised GNLC member logo (June 2021), a branding process of UNESCO. The use of the GNLC member logo is allowed on the basis of th UNESCO Name, Acronym, Logo and Internet Domain Names” a Conference.
