Lifelong Learning Festival 2023 Programme

Fèile Foghlama Chorcaì

On Tuesday the 28th of March, as part of the festival week, Ballyphehane Learning Neighbourhood are hosting an event to celebrate connections and re- connections within the community. Over the past years, covid has disrupted many of our community connections and prevented us from participating in our regular activities including school, creche and community groups. With the help of many, Ballyphehane Learning Neighbourhood found new and innovative ways to help all age groups to connect. Having emerged from covid, Ballyphehane Learning Neighbourhood want to take time to celebrate those connections and to also take the time to re-connect as a Learning Neighbourhood. The festival event will provide lots of opportunities to connect or re-connect in a fun and inter-generational way.

This year, as part of the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival, Togher Learning Neighbourhoods will host a Lifelong Learning Workshop . This event will take place on Wednesday the 29th of March in St. Finbarr’s Hall and will provide local primary school students with the opportunity to experience practical skills through short workshops. Local community organisations will showcase their activities to the learners and will provide hands on experience for the students.

During the week of the festival, UCC Assistive Technology Outreach Officer , Deirdre Madden will deliver a session to demonstrate how technology can support educators in their role. The session will explain how to use standard technology and free software to help make learning easier. This technology can provide educators and learners with greater choices in how, when and why they learn. This session will be held in the FET College in Knocknaheeny and will be open to educational professionals in the area.
