Strategic & Economic Development Planning Policy 15 Minute Urban Living in Ireland

Cork City Councils recently participated in a new research report from the Irish Institutional Property (IIP) entitled” CLOSE TO HOME: EXPLORING 15- MINUTE URBAN LIVING IN IRELAND” . This comprehensive report makes the case for compact city growth by setting out the societal and economic benefits of action, made even more urgent by the onset of climate change. At the heart of realising this ambition is the vision of the 15-minute city, a core objective of the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028. The research calls for a more informed public understanding of the positive benefits of compact growth to build and sustain public support. At a time, when Cork City’s citizens and policymakers are rethinking many aspects of how we live and interact within our city, this report provides a timely contribution to that discussion.
