Climate Action Unit Tue 5 Oct – attended ‘Covenant of Mayors’ presentation by Cllr Oliver Moran to EU Daring Cities Conference on the ‘Declaration of a Climate Emergency’ . Wed 6 - attended meeting with Cork Environmental Forum (CEF) to progress CCIC’s Community Climate Action Programme initiative. Thurs 7 – attended regular Steering Group meeting of the Climate Action Regional Office (CARO). Fri 8 – attended regular meetings of the Energy Cork cluster group. Submitted 2 nd annual progress report on the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy to CARO. Attended EU REACHOUT consortium meeting. Mon 11 – attended various presentations of the EU Week of the Cities and Regions, with several CCiC Cllrs presenting. Attended Young Social Innovators / Voice of Youth Initiative meeting. Presented at regular Climate Action Committee meeting. Tue 12 – attended workshop for new Climate Action section in the new Intranet Sharepoint platform.

Thurs 14 - attended AGM of the Energy Cork cluster group. Wed 20 – attended meeting on proposed North – South HEA Funding programme with ERI/UCC. Fri 22 – attended meeting on proposed master’s Research student from UCC working on CCiC climate actions. Attended kick-off meeting of KINSHIP meeting at Tramore Valley Park. Tue 26 – attended various parts of the EU Copernicus Emergency Management Services (CEMS) conference week, including European Flood Awareness System (EFAS) sessions. Wed 27 – attended meetings with St Vincent’s Secondary school to organise giving them a presentation on CCiC climate action initiatives. Thurs 28 – made submission to the OPW Biodiversity strategy. Fri 29 – prepared CCiC presentation for EU REACHOUT project kick-off meeting on 3 7 4 Nov 2021. Cult CreaTE is a project with a focus on Cultural & Creative industries (CCIs) and Cultural and Creative Tourism (CCT). As part of the action plan for the project, City Council will support the local CCIs in Cork (Sample Studios, Benchspace, Cork Craft &Design, Shandon Studios, Ardú, Design POP) to develop a cluster and create a pop-up festival next year to attract visitors to Cork and to demonstrate the value and contribution of the CCI sector to the Cork economy and to the attractiveness of Cork city as a city of culture and creativity. https://www.corkcity.ie/en/doing-business- in-cork/european-projects/cult-create/ Recreate Shandon clg is being supported by City Council to regenerate Shandon Buttermarket into a modern Tech hub. A Section 183 process has been approved by Council for long term 25-year lease. Planning permission for the project is due to be submitted with a view to making a submission for 75% funding of the project through the regional enterprise development fund (REDF) administered by Enterprise Ireland in Q1 2022.

Economic Development

FOSOSPOCO , a project focused on

enhancing the social economy ecosystem, is nearing completion and a final virtual event is being held on the 1 December with all partners including Tartu , Estonia and Malta and local stakeholders after which the final report will be completed and made available. Social enterprise is coming sharply into focus as a strong vehicle for delivery of products and services with a social impact informed and driven by national and European policy. Start at Best is a project also finalizing which is focuses on workplace innovation . 5 No Irish companies have been funded to implement workplace initiatives (including the Rubicon centre at MTU) to highlight the value of workplace innovation.
