Living City Initiative – Progress Report Q4 2021 The Living City Initiative is a tax incentive scheme, commenced in May 2015, focusing on the regeneration of designated Special Regeneration Areas of Cork City, to encourage people to live in the historic area of the city. An extension to the scheme was announced under Budget 2020 , to run until the end of 2022. A summary of the scheme uptake thus far is as follows:

Brand Benchmarking The We are Cork brand has been reviewed to establish the view of the key stakeholders and business on the impact of the brand with a view to establishing a programme to develop the brand into the future. A research consultancy Behaviour & Attitudes has been appointed have completed a number of interviews and workshops with the key stakeholders and business representative organizations and propose to report on findings. They will be presenting to the Brand Steering group in the near future with a view to establishing the next steps and programme for the brand in 2022 and into the future. Cork Lido SED have engaged with Lido Cork and are supporting them in undertaking a Feasibility study into identifying potential locations and costs for an external Swimming pool facility in Cork with the purpose of supporting a recent trend in increased popularity of outdoor swimming (rivers, lake, sea) and to attract and facilitate a renewed interest by local and visitors to Cork in outdoor fresh water / river water swimming in Cork City. Consultants Malachy Walsh and Partners have been appointed and a feasibility report will be completed in Q1 2022.
