• Create a community forum to promote initiatives for Disabled People/People with a disability with the city split into neighbourhoods; Cork Access Group and all stake holders including Cork City Council and HSE • The LCDC grants should be made clearer and more accessible: Cork City Community Section/ LCDC • Appoint an Access/Inclusion/ Officer(s) serving the needs of Disabled People/People with a disability in City Council. Train public sector managers and employees on inclusion. More sensitive use of language when referring to Disabled People/People with a disability. • Bring stakeholders together (CCC, HSE, Services etc) • Invest in the personal assistance service. • Make education for carers more affordable and faster (half year diploma idea for UCC) • Share information for Disabled People/People with a disability on Cork city Council website. • PPN as a main contact for organisations representing Disabled People/People with a Disability. • Make community and public services inclusive of Disabled People/People with a disabity. • Monitor LECP so it delivers on its goals. • Increase awareness of issues and requirements faced by Disabled People/People with a Disability. • Put parking spaces for Disabled People/People with a disability nearer to entrances. • Easier access to universities connected footpaths- and for the blind and visually impaired. More accessible toilets • Address access issues created by outdoor dining in Cork City • Consider fines for non-compliance with accessibility standards. • Use AI to better communicate between Cork City Council and Disabled People/People with a disability. • Need for more interpreters in public services. • Provide drop-in mental health centres. • Promote Disabled People/People with a disability people getting onto boards and decision-making bodies. Respect that Disabled People/People with a disability are experts on their situation. • Make LCDC grants clearer and more accessible: Combat “death by form filling.” • Create fulltime jobs for people with disabilities. • Promote equal access to personal assistants for Disabled People/People with a disability people. • Increase Disabled People/People with a disability peoples’ access to education. • Raise engagement and access to PPN for Disabled People/People with a disability.
