High Level Goal 3 – A City of Learning and Culture

3.3 Face to Face consultations In high level and summary form, feedback from face-to-face workshops with those stakeholders relevant to this consultation is provided below. Because feedback was oral rather than written, the emphasis is placed on highlighting the most relevant output for high level goals rather than on providing a comprehensive detail of all verbal contributions.

• Corks vibrant Arts and Cultural scene was cited by one table at this workshop as an important opportunity for the LECP to develop. • In relation to education the opportunity to educate and recognise volunteering work was noted. • New skills development programmes are developing education linkages that foster social cohesion. • There was a call for more education in the area of biodiversity • Create the Community Forum • The community forum should be initially set up by a cross sectoral group including all main stakeholders in the city both public private sector and community. • Safety, have better lighting, and more toilets including it changing space: this should be progressed through the Cork Access Group and the proposed Community Forum • Create a hub for Disabled People/People with a disability: led by the ETB, MTU, and the Crawford art gallery, other stake holders. • Bridging gaps between education and work and improving job coach mentoring. • More specifically it called for: • Arts and Culture to be used to integrate new communities. This consultation called for. • More digital literacy. A common Digital platform for all cultural/learning evens in the city (with PPN?) • More awareness training for those who work regularly with Disabled People/People with a disability. • Greater access to cultural amenities and educational institutions by the Disabled People/People with a disability

• More accessible community centres and libraries. • Making Cork a “number 1” destination for disabled
