• Build Cork as a future-ready city using approaches such as Health Impact Assessment (HIA) -focusing on sectors with potential for high ecological transformation and job creation (e.g. retrofitting, sustainable buildings & construction, waste management, decentralised renewable urban energy, local food systems, and climate resilient urban infrastructure). • The Profile of Cork city should graphically depict the areas of the city with high levels of unemployment. • Priority should be placed on increasing employment in these areas. • A plan is required to revitalise the city centre for employment. • A green recovery based on applying models based on local economic development, • Develop an Economy of Well-Being for Cork City in which individual well- being and long-term economic growth are mutually reinforcing in partnership with WHO Europe
4.2.7 NICHE
Supports objective 4.3 focusing on creating enterprise-friendly ecosystems. This could help to increase the proportion of those classified as employers and managers in the Knocknaheeny and Shanakiel communities.
4.2.8 Sustainable living, sustainable community Residents’ Group area
The submissions argues that enterprise will thrive in an environmental based on sustainability and inclusion and welcomes the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to develop ambitious plans for the area. The Cathedral welcomes 25,000 paying visitors per annum and the objective of reaching 100,000 is set for the strategic time frame of the Convention Centre’s completion. The submission says that as the centre will be competing with similar centres across Europe it needs to benchmark against them.
