This submission supports the idea of building an open air 50 metre swimming pool – at either Horgan’s Quay or Kennedy Quay (to ensure access from communities on both sides of the river) - to promote all year round swimming and open water swimming to benefit the physical and mental health of every individual taking part. The Sinn Féin submission is extensive and covers several sections the most relevant – for this High-Level Goal – being those on “Community,” the “City Centre / Dereliction and Vacancy,” “District Centres and Areas” and “Urban towns.” These are summarised as follows: Community • Implement a Community Wealth Building strategy. • Explore potential incentives for businesses that employ at least 20% from within their local community in areas that are identified on the Pobal Deprivation Index • Where Cork City Council disposes of land to, or receives development charges from, businesses or developments in areas identified on the Pobal Deprivation Index, that this funding is prioritised for local area improvement. • Develop a plan to target interventions on youth unemployment and the development of positive education and social opportunities for young people. • Cork City Council work with MTU and UCC to develop third-level campuses on the Northside of the city.
