Capital Works Members will be aware that the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) announced delivery targets under the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing & Homelessness across a range of housing programmes. Cork City Council successfully met and exceeded its target for 2019 and 2020, with a total of 1,096 homes delivered in that two-year period jointly by the Local Authority and AHB Sector under their Build, Acquisition and Leasing delivery programmes. The Covid-19 pandemic has necessitated the Government mandated shutdown of construction sites in two critical periods in both 2020 and 2021 which has had an effect on programme delivery dates, however, there remains a strong construction programme pipeline which can be summarised as follows:

Competitive Dialogue Procurement - Cork City Council placed a contract notice on the E Tenders website and the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) to procure innovative solutions to meeting housing targets under the Social Housing Strategy (SHS) including the construction and completion of housing projects under a parallel site acquisition
