Living City Initiative – Progress Report to Q4 2020

The Living City Initiative is a tax incentive scheme, commenced in May 2015, focusing on the regeneration of designated Special Regeneration Areas of Cork City, to encourage people to live in the historic area of the city. An extension to the scheme was announced under Budget 2020 , to run until the end of 2022.

Climate Action Unit

• 11 Jan – Climate Action Committee meeting # 13 – presentations from Housing and Architects; • 11 Jan – City Council presented to Plenary meeting of the Public Participation Network (PPN) on ‘civic engagement & behavioural change’; • 15 Jan – progress meeting with the Voice of Youth Initiative / Young Social Innovators on schools outreach project to include elements of climate action, the environment & local democracy; • 19 Jan – City Council meeting with Cork Chamber on ‘civic engagement & behavioural change’; • 21 Jan – City Council attended presentation from Jacobs Engineering on the EVOLVE tool that enables organisations and staff to measure projects against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); • 22 Jan - City Council finalising EU project bid ‘REACHOUT – R esilience in E urope through A ctivating C ity H ubs Out to users with climate adaptation tools’ in partnership with UCC; • 26 Jan – Energy Management Team regular meting; • 26 Jan – Creative Ireland – Climate Action Challenge initiative meeting between Arts Office, SED & CCP; • 27 Jan – City Council attended Association of Irish Energy Agencies (AIEA) AGM; • 28 Jan - City Council meeting with Cork Business Association on ‘civic engagement & behavioural change’; and • 29 Jan – City Council attended a presentation on the Emerald Floating offshore Wind project, being developed off the coast of Cork.
