Summary of Issue Raised relevant to this High-Level Goal - Use universal plain English across all platforms and in all produced printed materials; Across whole of government nationally and locally/ all departments. - Systems in the charity sector need to talk to each other. - Inclusive collaboration across communities with classes / courses/ initiatives - Older people should go into schools to teach empathy in terms of aging and disability. - Cork City Council should link it better with charity groups who work for people with disabilities. - More funding for parents and toddler groups Specific actions referenced were as follows: - Workshops to be delivered to services on universal media (plain English communication) for Cork Learning Cities / All main stake holders. - There needs to be a move towards individual funding so that within the health care system the money should follow the individual: HSE & TUSLA - Cork City Council should link better with charity groups who work for Disabled People/People with a disability., Cork City Council Community & Cork Access Group This submission expressed significant concerns about mental, physical health problems in the relevant community including Weil’s disease, depression, diabetes, cancer, and suicide risk. It called for enhanced provision of service and greater dialogue between the Council and community in relation to understanding community health and other needs.
