5.1.2 Qualitative survey feedback Of all the High-Level Goals referred to in online responses, the issue of safety was by far the most frequently occurring. This had two aspects to it. Firstly, many respondents want to see safer cycle routes and footpaths and walkways and traffic management. Secondly, many respondents want to feel safer in their communities and in the city centre, particularly at nighttime.
Many respondents feel their neighbourhood is already safe with good strong communities. But an equal or greater number of respondents cited drugs crime, anti-social behaviour, and lack of safety for children in public parks as key concerns. Dereliction, lack of adequate lighting and the need for more Gardaí were also cited by several respondents as key concerns and anti-social behaviour was cited in a few responses to Question 4.
